Splice Graphs and their Vertex-Degree-Based Invariants

Let G_1 and G_2 be simple connected graphs with disjoint vertex sets V(G_1) and V(G_2), respectively. For given vertices a_1in V(G_1) and a_2in V(G_2), a splice of G_1 and G_2 by vertices a_1 and a_2 is defined by identifying the vertices a_1 and a_2 in the union of G_1 and G_2. In this paper, we present exact formulas for computing some vertex-degree-based graph invariants of splice of graphs.

On Jones knot Invariants and Vassiliev Invariants

We show that the n-th derivative of a quantum group invariant, evaluated at 1, is a Vassiliev invariant while the derivative of the Jones polynomial, evaluated at a real number 6 = 1, is not a Vassiliev in variant. The coeecients of the classical Conway polynomial are known to be Vassiliev invariants. We show that the coeecients of the Jones polynomial are not vassiliev invariants.

Gromov-witten Invariants of P1 and Eynard-orantin Invariants

We prove that stationary Gromov-Witten invariants of P1 arise as the Eynard-Orantin invariants of the spectral curve x = z + 1/z, y = ln z. As an application we show that tautological intersection numbers on the moduli space of curves arise in the asymptotics of large degree Gromov-Witten invariants of P1.

Approximating Jones Coefficients and Other Link Invariants by Vassiliev Invariants

We find approximations by Vassiliev invariants for the coefficients of the Jones polynomial and all specializations of the HOMFLY and Kauffman polynomials. Consequently, we obtain approximations of some other link invariants arising from the homology of branched covers of links.
